Parking and yard
- Park in a secure, well lit yard with a locked gate, and nose-in where you can.
- Use CCTV and make it visible.
- Do not leave vehicles at home with the load on unless it is safe.
On the vehicle
- Locking fuel caps, and check they are in place and undamaged every day.
- Lockable tool boxes and secured load areas.
- Keys and fobs controlled, with a log of who has them.
- Trailer security such as king pin locks.
Daily check angle
Look for forced locks, damaged caps, missing fuel, signs of entry into the cab or load area and missing tools. Report suspicious changes at once, with photos. Checks with a time and location help your insurer too.
Fuel monitoring
Note fuel levels and mileage in a check with a number item, so unusual use stands out.
