Daily walkaround check
- Who: the driver.
- When: before the vehicle is used each day.
- Depth: visual and simple function checks.
- Aim: catch obvious defects before the vehicle goes out.
Planned preventive maintenance inspection (PMI)
- Who: a competent technician, in a workshop.
- When: at planned intervals that the operator sets, such as every 6 to 10 weeks for many goods vehicles.
- Depth: detailed inspection, often with the vehicle raised.
- Aim: find wear and developing faults.
They work together
The driver spots what changes day to day. The technician spots what is wearing. A defect reported by a driver can trigger an extra workshop visit, and a PMI can tell you what the drivers should watch.
What Kovi covers
Kovi is for the daily driver check and the defect loop. It records MOT, tax and service dates and sends reminders. Your PMI sheets stay with your workshop. Link them by keeping the defect history on the vehicle.
