Start with the daily vehicle check checklist: cab, lights, tyres, fluids, mirrors and documents.
Tipper specific
- Body down and locked before moving, with warning light off
- Tipping ram and hoses: no leaks, no damage
- Body hinges and pins secure
- Tailgate locks and hinges working and secure
- Body free of build-up and excess material
- Sheeting system, tarpaulin and ropes in good condition
- Rear camera and reversing alarm working
- Power take-off controls working properly
- Chassis cracks or bent bodywork
Why it matters
A tailgate that opens on the road, a body not locked down or an unsheeted load all cause incidents and roadside action. Record issues with a photo. See load security.
